Started in 1977, Builders Carpet was originally just a warehouse and builder supply company primarily supporting construction companies and wholesellers. It gradually became a full service flooring company with a beautiful showroom and provided the Tri-State with decades of convenience and full service. In 2008, the family business was restructured due to the owner's age and wife's health crisis. His daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Greg Peeno remained faithful to continue the business during this time while caregiving them and also decided to scale the company back to be able to provide savings without compromising integrity. The showroom became "mobile" and the warehouse became obsolete. Between 2008 and 2011, we found that the consumer was less interested in an overpriced showroom presence and more concerned with getting their dollar's worth. And they should be.
In 2010, the Peenos began missions outreach in Kenya, Africa, in collaboration with an individual in need. Yearly missions sales have been held to benefit the work of Jesus Christ in our local and African communities. Many opportunities to feed, clothe and educate the underpriveliged children of these areas is benefited by not only the sales of our flooring but those who want to give. And we are grateful to be a part of this work done in collaboration with others.
On January 1st, 2017, we decided to do business in a trade name of "Flooring Missions" and not Builders Carpet, since missions and helping others has been such a large part of our business and the proceeds from sales have been used to help others. So, it was decided that our new dba donates 10% of our sales invoice total to help in missions outreach, both locally and in Africa, on every single sale.
As of 2018, we are still serving customers with the care and consideration they pay for and deserve and helping those in need.
